Another zombie movie? Yes, it is, another survival movie about the human race against the zombie plague? Again, it’s a yes. So any different from any other zombie movies? Apparently, there is the movie is not about how the zombie break begins, but after the zombie rage has ended and how the life afterwards and it’s quite an unusual story if I say, The Cured.
Remember The warm bodies movie this is pretty much it is, much same but much different. The story plot sets few years after zombie break and yes the world still survives and many people still living, including the zombie, but they are not dead but cured. By zombie version is not like a zombie from walking dead series instead human cannibal eating flesh desire, well to this is a zombie-like virus the survivors cured and they are allowed to reintegrate back into society.
Senan (Sam Keeley) is one of many that cured, as an infected, he moves on and living with his widowed sister-in-law, although he is cured, he struggles to reconcile with his violent needs, the act feral like behaviour is continuing to haunt his personality. From time to time the cured get a glimpse remember all the violent act and all the victims. Ellen page is battling with a hope that his brother in law keeps on his sanity and reclaim his human side.
The films are all about bottling emotion and hope a new concept of the zombie genre, Cured pretty much can be a perfect film contain with all that it is needed and even more because Ellen Page is one of the most influential people right now
Written and directed by David Freyne, The Cured also stars Tom Vaughan-Lawlorand Paula Malcomson and arrives in theatres and On Demand on February 23, 2018. Watch the trailer below.
The following are the official synopsis :
“What happens when the undead return to life? In a world ravaged for years by a virus that turns the infected into zombie-like cannibals, a cure is at last found and the wrenching process of reintegrating the survivors back into society begins. Among the formerly afflicted is Senan (Sam Keeley), a young man haunted by the horrific acts he committed while infected. Welcomed back into the family of his widowed sister-in-law (Ellen Page), Senan attempts to restart his life—but is society ready to forgive him and those like him? Or will fear and prejudice once again tear the world apart? Pulsing with provocative parallels to our troubled times, The Cured is a smart, scary, and hauntingly human tale of guilt and redemption.”
Pretty much this movie is a must to see, its offer different kind of genres provides with deep storytelling, emotion and an unusual ending as we hope of it. The Cured played at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival and probably lacked promotion we hardly heard this movie at all. Hopefully, when the movie hits the theatre it get the proper recognition.
